Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: May 2026

Sketchy Survival 101 is a free, reader- and viewer-supported publication. To help cover the cost of producing our articles and videos, some of the links on this website are affiliate links.

What that means

If you click an affiliate link and then make a purchase, we may earn a small commission from the retailer. This comes out of the retailer's margin — it never adds anything to the price you pay, and in most cases you pay exactly what you would have paid going to the store directly.

It does not change what we recommend

We choose what to write about, and which products to mention, based on what the building science actually supports. A commission never buys a recommendation. When we link to a specific part — a turbine vent, a roll of radiant barrier, a length of pipe — it is because that part is the one the article's physics calls for, not because of any commission rate.

Programs we participate in

FTC compliance

In accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials, we disclose our affiliate relationships clearly. A short disclosure also appears in the footer of every page on this site, and individual articles that contain affiliate links state so near those links.

Questions
